Cleaning can feel endless. There’s always another dish, another pile of laundry, another corner collecting dust. Some days it feels so heavy that I don’t even want to start.
That’s when I lean on the 3-Song Cleaning Rule. Here’s how it works:
-
Pick three songs you love. They can be upbeat, calming, or even nostalgic.
-
Press play, set everything else aside, and clean until the music stops.
-
When the last note fades, you’re done — whether you tackled dishes, wiped counters, or cleared one little space.
It usually works out to about 10–12 minutes, but it feels different than setting a timer. Music makes the time fly, and instead of watching the clock, I’m singing along or moving with the rhythm.
Sometimes I stop after three songs. Other times, I’m in the flow and let the playlist keep going. Either way, I’ve noticed something important: small bursts of effort add up. A sink emptied today doesn’t become a mountain tomorrow. A cleared surface opens up mental space as much as physical space.
✨ Reflection: What’s one song that makes cleaning feel less like a chore for you?
🎵 Practical Tip:
Create a “3-Song Cleaning Playlist” on Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube.
Here are a few fun examples to try:
-
“Walking on Sunshine” – Katrina & The Waves
-
“Shut Up and Dance” – WALK THE MOON
-
“Happy” – Pharrell Williams
Keep it short, sweet, and ready to hit play whenever you need a burst of cleaning energy.
